How is your program structured?
Each pharmacy practice resident will complete ten different one month rotations. Additionally, one month each will be devoted to orientation and residency projects. Required PGY1 rotations include: internal medicine, ambulatory care, drug information, management, and pediatrics. Each PGY2 specialty residency program has specific rotation requirements. Applicants are encouraged to visit our website for a more comprehensive list of available rotations.

What PGY2 specialty residencies do you offer?
Our specialty residencies include: cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, informatics, hematology/oncology, and pediatrics.

How many residents do you accept?
The composition of the residency class changes each year depending on the quality of the applicant pool and the match. This year, our residency program includes four PGY2 specialty residents and five PGY1 residents.

Do you have personal resident space?

What sort of teaching responsibilities do you have?
Our residents receive an adjunct clinical instructor appointment with the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. In this role, residents assist clinicians with precepting PharmD students on clinical rotation and serve as co-instructors for a one-semester patient monitoring course for third-year PharmD students. We are also in the process of developing a teaching certificate program.

What research and writing projects do you complete?
Residents are required to complete a research project suitable for publication within the year. An abstract for the project will be presented at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and the results of the project will be presented at the Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference.
