2005 Residents

Regine Caruthers, PharmD (rcaruthe@umich.edu)
Regine Caruthers is a second-year Specialty Resident in Pediatrics at the University of Michigan Hospital and Health Centers. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. In 1997, Regine moved to Ann Arbor to pursue academics and athletics. Regine completed her PharmD degree at the University of Michigan. With hopes of moving closer to home, she completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, California. Regine missed Ann Arbor and longed for more pediatric training, and as a result decided to complete a second-year residency. Her clinical interests include critical care, hematology and transplant. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants (eating in general:) and hanging out with friends and family.


Gregory Eschenauer, PharmD (gregorye@umich.edu)
Gregory Eschenauer is a second-year Specialty Pharmacy Resident in Infectious Diseases at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. He was born in Cleveland, but obtained his PharmD degree at Butler University in Indianapolis. He hopes to obtain a clinical position at an academic institution after completing his residency, with his desired location changing almost daily. His hobbies include all sports, music, and traveling anywhere. His research project this year will focus on the effect of tube feeding on itraconazole absoprtion.


Ian Hollis, PharmD (ihollis@med.umich.edu)
Ian Hollis is a Pharmacy Practice Resident at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. He was born in Guelph, Ontario, and grew up in Vermilion, Ohio. Ian completed a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and a Pharm.D. at The Ohio State University in 2000 and 2005, respectively. His practice interests include Nutrition, Cardiology, Critical Care and Internal Medicine. When not at the hospital, Ian enjoys lifting weights, live music, and all forms of football. On the weekends he is not working, he enjoys traveling to large cities around the US. Ian lives in Ann Arbor with Nick Colla, a fellow OSU Pharm.D. graduate and current Ann Arbor V.A. Hospital pharmacy practice resident.


Yaman Kaakeh, PharmD (ykaakeh@med.umich.edu)
Yaman Kaakeh is currently a pharmacy practice resident at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Clinics. She grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana and at age eleven, was admitted to Purdue University as a gifted child. In May 2005, she obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University's College of Pharmacy & Pharmacal Sciences. Her major interests include internal medicine and infectious disease. She plans to pursue an academic career as a faculty member at a college of pharmacy, where she may be involved in teaching and conducting research. Yaman also loves to travel, enjoys drawing and oil painting, as well as reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.


Seth Alan Kuiper, PharmD (kuipersa@med.umich.edu)
Seth Kuiper is a Specialty Resident in Pharmacy Informatics and Technology at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. He was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Seth obtained his B. Sc. in Biology (1999) and Doctor of Pharmacy (2004) from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. His educational interests include medical informatics, medication safety, and clinical technology. After completion of his residency, Seth hopes to obtain an informatics pharmacist position at a large teaching hospital or in industry, perhaps in the Midwest. Seth's hobbies include automobiles, basketball, golf, college football, international travel, art, music, and fishing. His research project will focus on work flow and inventory changes caused by implementation of a new carousel dispensing system in the central pharmacy and his writing project will focus on technology used for medication safety.


Dina Mohammad, PharmD (dinam@med.umich.edu)
Dina Mohammad is a Pharmacy Practice Resident at the University of Michigan Hospitals. Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH along with fellow resident Rima Mohammad. She earned her PharmD degree from the University of Cincinnati. Her educational interests include Hematology/Oncology, Critical Care, and Transplant. She hopes to be a clinical specialist and adjunct faculty at a larger hospital affiliated with a College of Pharmacy. Her hobbies include spending lots of time with family and friends, traveling, music, and just kicking back and relaxing.


Rima Mohammad PharmD (rimam@umich.edu)
Rima Mohammad is a PharmD graduate from the University of Cincinnati, her hometown (Go Bearcats!). Being an Ohioan and being her second year in Michigan, she is finally adapting to the Go Blue pride. She didn't have to go far for her specialty residency. Rima decided to stay one more year at the University of Michigan since she loved her pharmacy practice residency experience and learned so much from the great and knowledgeable preceptors of the institution. She is currently doing a Critical Care Specialty Residency and she is definitely excited to see and experience all the things the program has to offer. Her areas of interests include infectious disease, nutrition, and critical care. Other than pharmacy, Rima does still stay involved in the arts, especially fashion design. She enjoys going on shopping sprees with other fellow residents as well as preceptors and providing the latest style tips. : As for Rima's future plans, she is aiming for a career in research, academia, and leadership. She hopes to continue the advancement of the pharmacy profession through pharmacists and future pharmacists.


Aline Saad PharmD (alines@umich.edu)
Aline Saad was born in Lebanon. After she graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) with a Bachelor Degree of Science in Biology in 1999, Aline moved to the United States with her husband. She then pursued her PharmD degree at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Detroit, Michigan and graduated in 2004. Aline completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers and stayed to pursue a Hematology/Oncology specialty residency. Following completion of her current residency, she would like to practice in her field of specialty and prefer to stay in Michigan. Her practice interests include Hematology, Oncology, Research and Management. When not working (hard), Aline enjoys the company of her 4 year-old son and her husband. Her other interests include reading Arabic and French literature, cooking, bicycling, dancing and taking care of people around her.
