Welcome
The University of
Michigan Health System Department of Pharmacy Services has great
opportunities for pharmacy technicians. Whether you've been a
technician in retail or hospital, or are just interested in pharmacy as a
career; we want to discuss job opportunities with you.
What do technicians
do?
Technicians are the
backbone of pharmacy operations. While our pharmacists are busy
caring for patients and working with physicians and nurses, technicians
are responsible for getting the medications and IVs prepared.
Technicians also play an important role in order entry into our computer
system and working with our robot and automated dispensing devices.
There are additional opportunities in the outpatient setting, OR, and
cancer center pharmacies.
How well are technicians compensated?
UMHS offers technicians competitive salaries. Most technicians work full-time, and receive complete benefits including:
Healthcare
Dental
Paid Time Off
and... 2 to 1 matching 403B (similar to 401K) retirement plan!
Additionally there is shift differential for working evening and
midnights. We also have part-time positions with full health
benefits paid at half-time.
What are the
hours?
We are a 24-hour a
day, 7 day a week operation. Your work location will largely
determine the hours you work. There are opportunities on all three
shifts. Most technicians work every other weekend.
Are there promotion
opportunities?
You bet! If you
work hard and do a good job, you can be promoted to a technician II or a
technician coordinator. Higher level technicians get more money and
have more responsibilities.
How do I get more information?
Easy - contact our pharmacy recruiter Dawn LaFever at 734-936-8204
or
contact her via e-mail.
She'll be happy to discuss opportunities with you and set up an
interview for you to come see what we're all about.
